Warming of oceans equals energy from 1.5 atomic bombs every second for 150 years.

That is the average. Now, it’s equal to 3-6 atomic bombs a second. Carbon emissions are affecting droughts, flooding, and melting ice on Earth. But, the oceans are affected the most.

Scientists studied ocean heat changes from 1877. They found that the oceans heated 1,000 times more than all the energy used by humans each year.

Carbon emissions have risen 60 % since 1990. The world’s oceans absorb more than 90% of these emissions.

“We are putting a lot of extra energy into the climate system. A lot of that goes into the ocean. There is no doubt,” said Professor Zannat of Oxford University.
